A carpenter’s scope of work includes, but is not limited to layout, construction, erection, installation and/ or repair of structures and/ or fixtures having commercial, residential or industrial applications. The carpenter’s skill in understanding architectural drawings and building codes and the use of varied hand and power tools to work with wood, concrete, plastic, metal and other types of building materials allows him or her to construct or repair warehouses, hospitals, stadiums and arenas, office or apartment buildings, refineries houses, bridges, water and sewage treatment plants, bleachers and entertainment stages, highways, etc. Carpenter’s also perform non-traditional tasks such as cutting and welding of metal and the use of computerized machinery. They are also called on to coordinate and supervise construction projects.
